If you have two operating system, and by some how you find that there is no BOOT LOADER, then it may due to a damaged boot sector, or missing ( or corrupt) ntldr and/or ntdetect.com files .Here is some simple steps of getting back boot loader without reinstalling windows agains.
To replace the damaged ntldr and ntdetect.com, you can copy fresh files from the XP CD using the COPY command. Boot with XP CD and enter Recovery Console. At the command prompt, type in the following ( where "X" is your CD_ROM Drive letter) and allow the new file to overwrite the old ones.
COPY X:\i386\NTLDR C:
COPY X:\i386\NTDETECT.COM C:
Like we said , it could even be a damaged Boot Sector. In that case , what you need to do is, at the command prompt , type in "FIXBOOT" and press [ENTER]. Then answer "Y" . Remember that this won't cause any harm even if the boot sector is not damaged.
